Jason Souloglou:
What we mean by an AI enabled connected store is to turn that store into an intelligent entity, to add intelligence into that entity which is this store, so that not only are all the individual components, intelligent, so the self checkouts have a level of intelligence that allows the shopper to have a frictionless experience, checking out non barcoded items easily, the security scales not causing friction.
It allows the shelves to always be stocked appropriately. The staff always are being deployed in the most efficient way, so that you know they’re manning checkouts when they need to, they’re stacking shelves when they need to.
If for example liquid or a coffee has been spilt in the coffee shop that’s within the store, you can even imagine cleaning robots coming out automatically and cleaning, you know, that up.
The store is operating in an intelligent and automated way. If there are security incidents that occur, right, the store can communicate to external security agencies, a security operation center for example, or the police, and, you know, present a prioritized list of incidents that need to be dealt with.
And and this, you know, you can see now that the the the connected store concept is actually now growing beyond just the individual store, but actually, to elements of a wider system including security.
This has, you know, amazing benefits, right? Because often, when thieves are targeting, you know, one store in a chain, they will often target multiple stores of that chain within that area. This allows the whole connected store idea to go actually beyond a single connected store, but to a connected estate. Then things, you know, really do become quite powerful.
